Wolfgang Lotz & Hilde Lotz-Bauer family connections
Alton Pickens
Alton Pickens was a friend of the Lotz family and lived with them for a short time in Poughkeepsie NY. They met in the 1950's at Vassar College, where Hilde, Wolfgang and Alton were teaching.
Joe McPhee is an outstanding avant-guarde saxophonist, also living in Poughkeepsie. See the recent article about him in Wired magazine. You can hear his music on YouTube for example Joe McPhee Po Music ~ Violets for Pia. This is Lower East Side Shout (for Alton Pickens). He was a good friend of Alton Pickens and also the Lotz family (now including the Griffiths branch!).

Eduard Bargheer
From the English edition of Wikipedia:
"In 1929 Bargheer became a member of the Hamburg Secession, a group of artists and intellectuals that developed out of Expressionism and included the art historians Aby Warburg and Erwin Panofsky. In 1933, the Hamburg Secession disbanded of its own accord, for it did not wish to exclude its Jewish members, as the Nazi party required."
From the German edition of Wikipedia:
"1932/1933 Bargheer used a scholarship from the city of Hamburg for a stay of several months in Paris, during which he befriended the Panofsky student Ludwig Heinrich Heydenreich."
"The director of the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz Friedrich Kriegbaum commissioned him to create reconstruction drawings of the Medici tombs by Michelangelo . In the years 1942 to 1944 he was an interpreter at a German-Italian naval shipyard in La Spezia."
Wolfgang Lotz was also a student of Panofsky. Wolfgang was also an interpreter at La Spezia.
Kriegbaum also commissioned Hilde Lotz-Bauer to document Florentine urbanism.
Wolfgang was the head of the Central Institute for Art History in Munich, until his doctoral supervisor Heydenreich took over the overall management.
Heydenreich with Wolfgang co-wrote the Pelican History of Art's Architecture in Italy, 1400 to 1600.
