From the moment of her arrival in 1933, Hilde fell in love with Italy. She travelled the length of the country capturing its people and their lives with her Leica. Using glass plate cameras, she created a unique record of the art and architecture of Florence, shortly before the city’s ancient bridges were dynamited in World War II.
This website provides an insight into the work of photographer Hilde Lotz-Bauer (1907-1999). It is a work-in-progress. We hope you will enjoy it and return to discover new material.
